Other Musical Events
Jubilate choir is committed to supporting charities and taking music to a wider audience.
In December 2011 ( as in 2010) Janet Haney and members of the Jubilate sang carols in the Whitgift Centre, Croydon again raising money for St Christopher's Hospice.
The Jubilate also sang a variety of Christmas songs and carols accompanied by guitar on the day of the Croydon Christmas Lights switch-on. You may have seen us outside Allders.
The BBC invited the Jubilate choir to take part in a special Songs of praise, recorded at Sir George Martin's Air Studios in North London, which is due to be broadcast on Sunday, 30th October 2011. It involved us in singing hymns with special choral arrangements. Alfie Boe, the famous tenor currently appearing in Les Miserables, sang solo pieces and was interviewed by Aled Jones. We all found the whole day a thrilling experience.
On July 16th 2011, we held our annual Sing Song at our usual rehearsal venue St Mark's. 30 singers, both new comers and those who return each year came and enjoyed a relaxed afternoon of learning some lighter music under the expert guidance of Janet Haney.
The pieces included 'Some Enchanted Evening'; 'Beautiful Dreamer'; 'Panis Angelicus'; 'The Lost Chord' as well as a chorus from lolanthe. This was followed by tea and cakes.
In March 2011 a number of Jubilate choir members joined the Petts Wood Festival Chorus in their fourth annual concert to raise money for charity.
We performed Mozart’s Requiem Mass and a number of shorter choral pieces including Handel’s Zadok the Priest, to a packed church.

Over £2000 was raised for the Special Care Baby Fund at the Princess Royal University Hospital, Farnborough and Queen Elisabeth Hospital, Woolwich.
