Soloists with the Choir

Richard Bannan

baritone

While in his final year reading music at Clare College, Cambridge, Richard sang works by Faur and Debussy, at our informal concert of French music in June 2004. A member of Cappella Artois, he had already featured as a soloist at a number of performances, at the London Bach Festival, as cantor for a choral evensong broadcast on Radio 3, and on a recording of music by Robin Holloway. Richard was again on the bill for our concert in March 2005.

Grace Cookey-Gam

soprano

One of our regular soloists, Grace was educated in Croydon, and after studies at Birmingham University and Goldsmiths, now teaches locally. She has sung in cathedrals across the UK and abroad with chamber choirs, and has performed a number of operatic roles.





Justine Davies

soprano

Born in Kent, Justine studied at the Blackheath Conservatory of music, and then with Rudolf Piernay. She has sung with a number of opera companies, including the London Opera Players, Opera Del Mar, Cameo Opera, Mantissa Opera, and Commedia Productions, and has won master classes at Glyndebourne.



Valerie Murray

soprano

Another of our regular soloists, Valerie sang an aria from La Bohme at our "Mainly Puccini" concert, and songs by Faur and Debussy at our concerts of French music in June 2004 and in March 2005. At these concerts, she also performed in duet with Hilary de Santos.





Hilary de Santos

soprano

Hilary sang works by Duparc and Poulenc at our concert in June 2004. She and Valerie sang Gounod's "D'un coeur qui t'aime" at that concert, and the Flower Duet from Madam Butterfly at our Puccini concert. She also sang with us in March 2005.





Susan Waters

voice coach

Susan Waters is Professor of Singing at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, as well as leading choral workshops, and regularly teaching on the Eton Summer Choral courses. She is also voice coach to choristers of King's College, Cambridg. Susan shared with Janet Haney the coaching duties at our workshops in June 2004 and in June 2005.




Ben Breakwell

tenor

A graduate of Kings College, Cambridge, Ben has toured extensively, working with conductors who have included John Eliot Gardiner, Ivor Bolton, Nicholas Kraemer and John Rutter. He is also a founding member of the close harmony group Cappella Artois. Ben performed at our concerts in November 2004 and March 2005.





David Neal

baritone

Also a member of the renowned choir of Clare College, Cambridge, David deputized for Richard Bannan at our concert in November 2004.

Sally Silver

soprano

Sally Silver’s international career began in her home country of South Africa, where she made her operatic debut as Lauretta in GIANNI SCHICCHI.
In March 2009 Sally Silver made her role debut as Elvira in Bellini's rarely performed I PURITANI in a concert performance with Scottish Opera.
